My Favorite Things of Hawaii, Part II

Part of the fun of traveling on the Big Island of Hawaii to me was seeing all of the little towns along the way. It was while going through the town of Kamuela on our way to Hilo that we just happened to pass an antique store. Oh, no I thought to myself, I'm in trouble! Another one of my loves in life is antique stores. I love to go in and look at all of the vintage items, especially those related to my growing up years ( the fifties) and quilting. I could not get out of the car fast enough, to say the least.
What I found inside was the most amazing stuff I have ever laid eyes on! I knew  we were in a hurry and I could not bring it all home, so I selected a few little things that I could carry with me on the plane, that meant the most to me.

Dare I tell you, I love collecting vintage thimbles.
There in a little case was
this precious jewel of a thimble.
Not just an ordinary one either,
but one with the inscription of "Mother".

Around the corner was this wonderful vintage tin.
Did I mention that I also collect vintage tins?
You're going to know me way too well if I keep going!

This tin was made in England.
I was in awe of the beautiful colored roses
and flowers that adorned the top.

Yes, I collect vintage hankies as well
and this one just happen to catch my eye.

I just loved the pleasant colors of this little hankie.
It started my mind racing and I thought...
I could make a darling 30's quilt using these exact colors.
That is now on my to do list!

I don't dare say it! Well...you guessed it!
My most favorite thing in the world to collect
is vintage aprons. I simply adore them!!!
Every time I see one, I try to imagine what
the woman was like that wore it when it was new.

I was so excited about my new little purchases that I had to remind myself to get my camera out and take pictures of the beautiful and unusal scenery that surrounded me.

These pictures were taken from the car as we traveled.

I loved seeing these women
out fishing along the ocean banks.

We could only see one lonely,
little sailbaot on the ocean that day.

There was something about this bridge!
It seem to have such a quaint feeling about it.

You cannot believe how big the trees grow in Hawaii!
This one was about as gorgeous as they come.
It was full of beautiful pink blossoms everywhere.

On the other hand, this tree was kind of scarey!
It looked as if it had roots for branches.
There you have it, Beauty and the Beast.

I hope you're finding my Hawaii trip enjoyable.
It 's fun for me to share all of my adventures with you.
The next post of Hawaii will be of
"Quilt Passions" quiltshop in Kona.
Lots to see!
HUGS!

Great photos of Hawaii. Aren't those trees just humongous? I love all the little things that you managed to pick up too. The apron is just adorable.

Hawaii is one of my favorite places to visit. Your photos are making me need another trip!!!

What great finds you managed to get at the antique shop. That thimble is amazing. I wonder who wore it.

I think if you and Lori Holt were together at the Antique store you'd both be in bigger trouble. Imagine what the one would see, and lead the other to.
Great finds.

OH dear, we would be in trouble if we shopped together. My hubby has already said we need to find a bigger house just to house my fabric stash, and all the treasures my daughter and I find in antique shops!
