He's Singing My Song!

Who knew that when my son left home a few months ago to serve a mission for our church that he would find himself serving in a Salvation Army for a day or two. While there he came upon something that he knew would make my heart sing. After telling the women in charge that he knew his mom would LOVE having this… I got a call from the Salvation Army. It was this sweet woman Teresa on the other end of the line telling me that she had my son standing there and he had seen this little sewing machine that had just come in that day and thought perhaps I would like it. She asked me if she could send it to me…
and then if I liked it she would accept a donation and have me reimburse her for the postage. After inquiring about the machine to see what kind it was I was CERTAIN that it was something that I wanted!
It was this adorable little
 "SINGER FEATHERWEIGHT"
made in 1939 in New Jersey.
I am not kidding!!!
She mentioned that the case was not in good shape
as the bottom of it had rotted out, but that the tray was...
and that it was full of all sorts of goodies!
Well... just after it arrived...
I got it out of the case and decided to see if it worked.
It not only works... it PURRS!

I am still in SHOCK!
I think the thing that shocked me most was to know that there are still sweet people in this world like Teresa that put their trust in you and that she would take time out of her busy schedule to send this to me not even knowing me.

Oh… my
 "Sweet, Sweet Son"
for thinking of me. He was definitely...
SINGING MY SONG!

I think it is very special because it was your son that thought of you when he saw it. He is a special young man. And how lovely of the lady in the store to go to all that trouble.

What a treasure! My mom has her mother's featherweight and she would never let it go, so I decided not long ago that I was on a mission to find a white one, and I finally took the plunge and purchased one. I can't wait to give it a try!

My son's on a mission too in the Honolulu Hawaii Mission. Where's your son serving? How sweet of him to think of you and for her to call you and let you know about it. It looks absolutely adorable! I've heard that these sew really well. What a wonderful find!

What a sweet story....just goes to show your son is always thinking of you and.....you trained him well! Where is he serving? It must be somewhere in the south?? I'm so glad you were able to get such a beautiful featherweight. Now you and Lori can "purr" together on your retreats.

Surprises don't come any better than that.
We have a Featherweight, my sweetie bought it for me for our anniversary several years ago. She is my honey, love her. And she comes in handy when it's lightning and I want to sew.
Blessings

Oh Rae Ann, that brings tears to my eyes. Jonathon is so sweet to think of you the minute he laid eyes on the Featherweight. They are truly awesome little machines, and you are soooo lucky he saw it. One of the gals in my quilting group has one, and that is what she uses when we meet each month. Love you and ALL of your kids.

Rae Ann,
Some people will think of any way to hear from a missionary son! Was this a plant? This takes the cake! I bet you were just flipping out when she said she had your son standing right there. I know I would have been. What a great story!
Hey, thanks for sending all your friends my way. I have a lot signed up for the give-away.
You are a gem.

What a treasure! The FW means even more because your son thought of you. My FW did not have a case. I purchased a scrapbooking case on wheels from JoAnne's for my FW. Enjoy your "new" machine!

I've sent four missionaries out from our home, three boys and one girl. Miracles always happened when they were serving. Now all my children are married (in the temple) and having children of their own. I miss the blessings that come from supporting a mission. Recently a young orphan girl living with her aunt has decided to serve a mission and our Ward gets the opportunity of supporting her!!! I am so excited.
congrats on this wonderful machine. I am drooling.
