and then if I liked it she would accept a donation and have me reimburse her for the postage. After inquiring about the machine to see what kind it was I was CERTAIN that it was something that I wanted!
It was this adorable little
"SINGER FEATHERWEIGHT"
made in 1939 in New Jersey.
I am not kidding!!!
She mentioned that the case was not in good shape
as the bottom of it had rotted out, but that the tray was...
and that it was full of all sorts of goodies!
Well... just after it arrived...
I got it out of the case and decided to see if it worked.
It not only works... it PURRS!
I am still in SHOCK!
I think the thing that shocked me most was to know that there are still sweet people in this world like Teresa that put their trust in you and that she would take time out of her busy schedule to send this to me not even knowing me.
Oh… my
"Sweet, Sweet Son"
for thinking of me. He was definitely...
SINGING MY SONG!

What a wonderful find and to have a son so in touch with what mom would like is a BLESSING... Now if you tell me he bought it for a steal I'll faint.

You are living your life right girlfriend, because that is such a FIND! And you have trained Jonathan right to recognize a Featherweight when he sees one. It looks in wonderful condition. I think she deserves a name!!
What a treasure! Your son and your new Featherweight...I'm lovin' that quilt I can see just a little of!
I think it is very special because it was your son that thought of you when he saw it. He is a special young man. And how lovely of the lady in the store to go to all that trouble.
What a treasure! My mom has her mother's featherweight and she would never let it go, so I decided not long ago that I was on a mission to find a white one, and I finally took the plunge and purchased one. I can't wait to give it a try!
WOW....what a GREAT treasure for more reasons than one!!!
Woohoo!!!! So many reasons to be thankful for this little gem. Enjoy!

Wow!!!on several accounts! First, your son thinking of you when he saw it....then the worker so would send it to you instead of selling it in the store!!! Missionaries must be doing some good work there! :) Congrats!!! Can I be jealous?! :)
WOW! That's awesome Rae Ann. I'll bet you'll get a lot of use out of that new little machine when you go to your retreats!
It really does restore your faith in human nature to hear such stories. It looks a fabulous find and what a great son to find it for you. I can hear the singing all the way here.
Love Shirley.xx
What a sweet story from beginning to end. You have been twice blessed.
My son's on a mission too in the Honolulu Hawaii Mission. Where's your son serving? How sweet of him to think of you and for her to call you and let you know about it. It looks absolutely adorable! I've heard that these sew really well. What a wonderful find!

I have a Featherweight and I adore mine. It looks just like yours, but mine was made in 1945. Great son you have there.
A sweet sweet song indeed Rae Ann. What a blessing for you, and how wonderful of your son to think of you like that. I love the little treasures you have found in the tray too. xo
Oh, how I love stories with happy endings!!! I think I'm getting misty here...! ;-))))
It's beautiful! What a thoughtful son you have too.
What a sweet story....just goes to show your son is always thinking of you and.....you trained him well! Where is he serving? It must be somewhere in the south?? I'm so glad you were able to get such a beautiful featherweight. Now you and Lori can "purr" together on your retreats.
Rae Ann, that is so wonderful on all accounts, a true little miracle. Congratulations! I love that cute little machine and I'm so happy for you!

Surprises don't come any better than that.
We have a Featherweight, my sweetie bought it for me for our anniversary several years ago. She is my honey, love her. And she comes in handy when it's lightning and I want to sew.
Blessings
Linda
How nice Rae Ann- that machine went to a good home where it will be loved and treasured- Who could wish for more than that.

Oh Rae Ann, that brings tears to my eyes. Jonathon is so sweet to think of you the minute he laid eyes on the Featherweight. They are truly awesome little machines, and you are soooo lucky he saw it. One of the gals in my quilting group has one, and that is what she uses when we meet each month. Love you and ALL of your kids.
Oh WOW...What a wonderful find and what a great story!
Now how great is that!
Hi Rae Ann, Ooo I bet you're just fluffing those feathers of yours over your lovely treasure. There are some real nice people around and I would say your son is pretty special too. Love all the bits that came with it.....unreal! Enjoy. Kind regards, Anita.
what a great little machine.........what a gem of a son to find it for you.......
What a beauty and a great find!! Your son knows you so well. That sure was nice of Teresa to send it off to you without payment or postage. What a gal, there are nice people in this world aren't there. I'm so happy for you.
That was not a coincidence, your son being there! Lucky you, hope she sews very well too!
OH my how thrilling for you.. your son was such a dear to think of you!! To receive such a gift.. what an honor!! Enjoy :)

Good things happen to good people. I love this story. It is so funny because I know you've been looking for one. I love the quilt it is sitting on too!
Rae Ann,
Some people will think of any way to hear from a missionary son! Was this a plant? This takes the cake! I bet you were just flipping out when she said she had your son standing right there. I know I would have been. What a great story!
Hey, thanks for sending all your friends my way. I have a lot signed up for the give-away.
You are a gem.
Jill
The blessings that come from having a son in the mission field! ;) I love it!! What a find and a treasure.
What a treasure! The FW means even more because your son thought of you. My FW did not have a case. I purchased a scrapbooking case on wheels from JoAnne's for my FW. Enjoy your "new" machine!
HOw could I miss this wonderful post....what a sweet thing to do and what a loving son...how awesome is that?????
I've sent four missionaries out from our home, three boys and one girl. Miracles always happened when they were serving. Now all my children are married (in the temple) and having children of their own. I miss the blessings that come from supporting a mission. Recently a young orphan girl living with her aunt has decided to serve a mission and our Ward gets the opportunity of supporting her!!! I am so excited.
congrats on this wonderful machine. I am drooling.
