My favorite class was the applique class that Lori taught. It was one the very best classes that I have ever taken. She has a very simple but sure way to applique that takes half of the steps out. It was so fabulous! Honestly... it removed my fear of appliqueing and I found that I have a new LOVE!
This is the cute project that we did. It is a 12" x 12" appliqued plaque to set out at birthdays or anytime that you are going to have cake. Of course... this one is Lori's! Mine is not finished yet. I am still working on it! Isn't is to die for? Our kit even had the vintage fork in it. Cute!!! Lori is an AMAZING designer!
This was our mystery class. We all brought 5 different fabrics, cut and ready to go. Amy assembled the kit and gave us the patterns for both Civil War quilts. The kit will make one or the other. I am not real sure which one I will make.
I love the look of this ninepatch quilt
with the cute yo yos on every other row.
But... what's not to love about this basket quilt?
This is going to be a hard decision! Both are so great!
Then there was the pincushion exchange.
Amy's daughter, Mendy was pleased
that she won the pincushion made by Kim.
It was a darling 3 tier layered cake pincushion.
Kim and Susann with their cute pincushions.
Kim won this adorable turtle pincushion....
which I think she was just worshipping... just kidding!
This is the one that Susann got to take home.
I dearly love it! Very sweet!
Amy's other daughter, Melanie shared
with us these two darling pincushions.
Here's Elizabeth, Amy's mom
with a real cute one as well.
Roma just happens to be Amy's sweet sister.
She is showing us a couple of adorable ones.
I thought this one was very clever!
A little spoonful of perfection!
The purse class was wonderful! I signed up and decided to wait and take it at a later date so I could get some quilting done. This is Kim's black felted wool purse. I snapped this picture before she put the finishing touches on it. She later added a darling red flower similar to the one below.
Shelley's got a great eye for purse fabric.
I love the vintage look this purse has!
Marilyn's vintage purse has a simple,
sweet look about it. Very pretty!
Lori just cracked me up! She thought
her purse would actually make a great hat.
It sure looked cute on her!
She choose a beautiful mixture of Amy Butler and
Heather Bailey and Art Studio fabrics for her purse.
I loved the pink lining she chose for the inside.
This is the other side of her purse. Very lovely!
Visit their blogs to see how cute they turned out!
Quilt trunk shows will be my next feature! Be sure to watch for it! There were great designers there with incredible quilts!

Sounds like a wonderful time! I want to learn applique' from Lori...and learn to make those cute purses too! And Kim's pincushion...wow!!!
Love that applique! Sounds like it was so much fun! Where was the retreat?...for those of us who might want to to go the next one!
Oh...I wish I knew the easy way to do applique. I love the finished project and can do very good, tiny stitches that barely show, BUT...I have a lot of trouble turning under the edges...especially by points and inside corners, etc. I'm glad you had such a wonderful time!!!
Sounds like there was alot of fun in that gathering of girls. Love the different creations each of you made. Kind regards, Anita.
Good luck choosing from the two quilts....I like them both!
What a fabulous retreat!!!! I loved everything about it.

Oh Rae Ann I am so enjoying this trip you are taking us on. It feels as if part of us has been on the retreat with you. (I Wish!)

Rae Ann, Way too much fun! I love all the projects. The pincushions and purses are just adorable. This is a retreat any quilter would love to take advantage of any time.
OHMYGOSH! That Cake thing is ADORABLE! What is it? A cookbook or notebook cover? Looks like you had a fantastic time!!!
So much cuteness!
How are you going to decide which quilt to make??? I vote for both! LOL
Hello Rae Ann! It is so good to meet you! Thanks for the visit! How blessed you are to have Lori as a friend! She is a cutie pie! She wrote me today and said she loved the journal. I am glad I nailed it right to her liking! See you soon!
Hugs,
Maryjane
No worshipping. . . Kayla was just taking my picture and I blinked. I love all of the other pictures you took. You caught pictures that I didn't take. Thanks for catching everyone with their pincushions and other projects. It was fun seeing everyone. Shelly's rose was actually made out of cotton fabric and my rose was made out of role. I will show you both techniques. Maybe I'll do a tutorial on them. That would be fun.
That's wool. sorry. lol
Looks like a wonderful time! How do you find out about these retreats???
Thanks Kim! I would so love a tutorial on the flowers... as I know we all would. Your turorials are always so great!
You were so cute with your darling little turtle that I just had to fun with you a bit! :) You are even cute when you blink!
