Special Gift From My Prince Charming!

My Prince Charming went on a little trip recently and when he came back...he surprised me with a neat little gift. It just happen to be something I really love!

It was a beautiful sterling silver thimble
from the 1930's...
the one in the middle ...front and center.

Oh...how I love thimbles and being that it was
from the 1930's...
made it all that much more special!

It has already found a home on top of the pins that belonged to my grandmother... sitting next to my grandmother's thimble on the right. The lady thimbles on top are also some of my favorites. There were originally eight...but accidents seem to happen when little fingers are around.

What a special gift! (Please tell Nedra I heard from Bob at Superior and it seems some of the owners of the machine I have put DIMES under their bobbins in order to use the pre-wound ones....not so sure I'm willing to risk that as it sounds like it's not very machine-friendly, ya know? I appreciate your help and Nedra's, though!)

Hi! Love the thimble collection - I too have a small collection and have just posted a couple of pics on my blog, but I don't have anything as old as 1930 (at least, I don't think I have) I have a very old bakelite one which could be back to the 40's I think.

Your little display cabinet is so beautiful, I wish I could find something similar. I also collect old needle-books, sock darners and sewing tools and notions - it's just the displaying of them that's the tricky bit!!

Rae Ann,
I happened to come across this post and couldn't wait to read it's contents. I would like to start collecting older thimbles and already have quite a button collection.
What a thoughtful, lovely gift. Your husband must be a real gem!

All my best,
Heather
